Top 10 On the Page SEO Practices to Follow!

WeBeeSocial Creative Digital Agency SEO DelhiSearch engine optimization is the ultimate way to get organic visibility over the internet. The fact that we just need to follow certain guidelines with minimal investment makes everyone easily adopt these easy-to-understand SEO practices. In this dynamic medium, we need to know what Google’s algorithm is looking for in a website. Don’t we all want the web pages of our websites to come on the first page of Google’s Search Engine Results Page? Here’s how you can optimize your website and get good Search rankings:

1. The title tag should always start with the most relevant keyword

Whenever you write a meta-title/title tag, it is highly recommended to start it with the most relevant keyword. A keyword that you feel is the core idea behind your website. The title tag for that particular web page, if well-described, will give you great results!

2. Have an awesome slug for pages and posts

What is a slug? It is a unique named identifier for each page. In simpler terms, it’s the URL text after the domain name. (Slug is a popular term in CMS like WordPress). For example:

3. The Title should include modifiers

Modifiers relate to those keywords that add spice or enhance the quality of a keyword. The sub-primary and sub-secondary keywords, or, the keywords with an adjective. An example of this would be buying shoes at low prices in India, where LOW PRICES is the modifier.

4.  The Titles should be wrapped in <H1> Tags

The main heading of the article should always be in <H1> tags. This should also have primary keywords while also adding a modifier that previously has been used in the meta-title.

5. Multi-media dazzling is a must

The crucial importance of videos and images on your website can neither be undermined nor underestimated. While publishing any post, add 2-3 images to the post, and in the alt tag mention the most important primary keyword even if that keyword is not related to the image. While image-centric content is good, adding videos can only lead to an increased stick rate. Not just an improved stick rate, a share of the video on social media will provide you with a natural backlink.

6. Sub-headings should be wrapped in <H2> tags

While Secondary keywords should be emphasized in the sub-headings, just one super important keyword will be even better. It is highly advisable to use the same primary keyword that was previously used in the meta title and <H1> tag. Do note that all the subheadings in this article are in <h2> tags.

7. Mention your keyword in the first 100 words

While writing content the target or primary keyword for that particular web page should appear twice or thrice in the first 100 words. It is even better if that target keyword has already been used in meta-title, <H1>, and <H2>

8. Mobile-friendly website is mandatory

Thanks to the Google Mobilegeddon update, it is only after this update that Google has started penalizing websites that are not mobile-friendly. Read Google’s article on this here.

9. Use outbound links

Google considers link building to be a natural process, therefore, a fine balance between inbound and outbound links is crucial. It is a good practice to provide outbound links to other websites that are related to your line of business. Moreover, crawlers check the relevancy of a particular piece of content based on the links mentioned.

10. Internal Linking cannot be ignored whatsoever

Internal linking is a good engagement practice. Like we are mentioning the link to our last article on LinkedIn here and the one on Instagram here. In a post of approximately 1000 words, use at least 3-4 internal links and at least 1 outbound link or external link. The key reason for this is that Google appreciates user-friendly websites and any practice that leads to an enhanced user experience will automatically get better ranking in Google’s Search Engine Results Page.

BONUS: Other good on-page optimization practices that are equally important:

  1. Boost the loading time of your website by reducing image size and minifying JS and CSS
  2. Sprinkle some LSI (Latent Semantic  Keywords)
  3. Image optimization by mentioning the most relevant primary keyword in the Alt text
  4. usage of social media sharing buttons for awesome quality backlinks
  5. post long content with at least 1500-2000 words
  6. boost dwell time or in other words improve the stick rate.
